Busy Fall Days

Lacey inspecting the empty-looking screen porch.

The pantry now, after many hours of hard work!

The pantry before which does not reveal the true mess in there!

I don't know what it is about fall that makes me want to clean and declutter, but that's what I'm up to these days.

Today I did not accomplish everything I hoped to but I did get a number of tasks done:

Cleaned and reorganized the pantry. Whew! Big job and I'm glad it's done. You can actually walk in there now and I have open shelf space - Woo Hoo!

Closed the screen porch. :( I'm always sad to do this as it means that summer is officially over. The cushions have been brought in the house to hide out under the stairs and covers are on the furniture to protect them from winter's harsh conditions.

Moved the deck furniture under the deck and brought the table into the screen porch. Our patio table is all metal and it becomes my giant cooking and baking cooling rack. This is probably the best thing about closing the screen porch.

Well, that and filling up the bird feeders and putting them back out. I love watching birds. I have been patiently waiting to put my bird feeders out and I want to do it NOW! The big question is, do I dare? We have bears in our area and they love to destroy bird feeders. It's been a warm fall for us so I doubt that they are sleeping yet but I want to attract the migrating birds. Hmmm... What to do?

I also burned off the brush pile in our back yard. We had an old straw bale for Daniel to practice using his bow and it was sprouting so my husband put it on the burn pile. It was rather damp so we created a LOT of smoke with our little fire. Sorry, Mom! (She doesn't live that close but it was a still day and the smoke went through the valley and hung around her place for a little while!)

So much for cleaning the house. I guess that'll have to happen tomorrow, or the next day!

Hi CanDo Mom,
You have been living up to your name and mine (BZYB)! What an inspiration you are. I have been tackling similar projects but have less to show for it. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!

I dont know what it is about fall that makes me clean too.Maybe its the anticipation of poor weather ahead or knowing the holiday crunch is looming ahead and there wont be any time? Im not going to show you my pantry, ugh!

Look at how ambitious you are! I am completely drooling over your porch! We grew up with a nice screened porch & we lived in there :) And your view!

Thanks for stopping by today & for the congrats! I read you bio & I can relate to the slightly chaotic :) I like that though :) I am pretty sure any house with boys would qualify :)

I was just with Kate all day & I can tell you she is hoping to blog a little soon...she hosted a 250 guest wedding at her home last weekend & that put blogging on the back burner for months :) But her house looks great! So if she could get her camera working she would be doing well :) But I have photos of different parties & stuff she has given so I am hoping to get her going soon too :)

Hope you are enjoying this lovely weather as much as we are!!!

I wanted to stop by ever since you left your amazing and lovely comment on my blog...you bless me. So sorry that this is overdue but know that you made my day with your comment! I wish I always had stories about my girls but there are days (Like the last few) where I am praying for strength to just smile. But they are gifts from above and I know that everyday. And regardless, even in the low times, I always cope by laughing. And I love that when I look back on through days, there is something to laugh at. And BTW...I love the title of your blog! I need to wake up each day and remember I am a CAN DO Mom too! And this pantry? I am in awe. I would pay money to have a pantry this size! All my food stuff is carefully balancing on top of one another like a non-perishable jenga game. We live on the edge in our house! Can't wait to peek in on you again soon!
