I have a lot of stuff. In fact, I have TOO MUCH STUFF.
It's a sickness I tell you!
I'm feeling a really REALLY strong urge to do some major house cleaning, as in purging.
I've been listing things on eBay and that has helped. It's such a great feeling to declutter and get paid for it all at the same time. Still, I doubt that everything I've got will be able to be sold on eBay. Some can go to Goodwill or the Salvation Army but, sadly, some of it will probably end up in a landfill somewhere.
What is it about me that clamors for more things? Why am I drawn to yet more books? I just went to yet another used book sale and came home with another box of books! They were a bargain but if I'm completely honest, I don't need any more books. My shelves are almost full.
My pantry is full as well. So's my closet and the mechanical room. Now, I should preface these statements with my definition of full. These areas are tidy and organized but there is not a lot of spare room on the shelves in any of these areas. No stacking on the floor or anything like that, but, BUT... I have more than what I need and the holidays are rapidly approaching which usually results in MORE STUFF invading our home.
Sooooo - I'm looking around and everything is fair game. My family gets a little nervous when I start acting this way but I think it's good for all of us. A little clearing up and cleaning out will end up blessing others, perhaps put a little money in the bank account and give us a little breathing room. The real key, however, is to keep the newly created space and not fill it up with additional STUFF.
It's a big project but I can work at it a little at a time and that is what I intend to do. I'll keep you posted!

Best wishes--it is HARD work! I am a bit of a pack rat (hope that term doesn't offend!) myself. I mean, you just never know when you might need that book, right!?!
I read through some of your previous posts...Love the girls trip!! The bicycles that you can ride around town??That is sensational. What a great tradition. Your girls are beautiful!!
Oh yeah--are you still hanging with The Shred??

I have too much stuff too. Maybe a yard sale is in order? If you were closer we could swap stuff! tee hee.
"almost" full? haha mommy you're funny. :) and good work on selling everything off.
xx.
See? If you moved every two years and lived in tiny basement apartments, you would get to do this on the regular! I love cleaning out. Makes me so happy.
yep, selling our old stuff on ebay is a good idea. especially if we don't use it anymore.
like paris when it sizzles. haha
A girl after my own heart I am a purger big time & actually I have been feeling lately like I just keeping getting rid of stuff & not replacing it & my house feels empty (exept for the millions of toys I fight with my kids to pick up everyday :) & of course I do more of it than they do :)
But glad you are able to sell some! & thanks for keeping my little splurge secret but that is when I discovered my husband actually does read my blog :)
nature abhors a vacuum... at least that's what my dad always says. :)
Oh this is so inspirational to do...I endeavor to do it every year but never do. I especially like the photos thing. Now that we have new house I need to do that or I will definitely forget. And I am a purger...love it. And when I get the urge to purge...it can get scary.
